So, I have heard it said that there is nothing to do in this town, and I myself find myself driving to Cincy or Indy.

Anyone want to give some suggestions?

*gosh this room has been quiet :)*

Yeah, I don't live in Dayton anymore, but even when I was there I didn't find much to do. I mostly just hit comedy clubs, or made the drive to Cincy.

It depends, what do kind of things did you used to do where you used to live? or what kind of things are you looking to do? It is boring here but there are some things to do.

I enjoy the wonderful bike paths in the area. Weather permitting of course. John Bryan Park in Yellow Springs is great hiking and scenic views in the summer.

The Dayton Museum of Natural History has a nice laser light show on weekends (MIDNIGHT is Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Riverscape usually has something to do. Ever been to a Dragons game? Even fun for non-fans! I love (because I am unbalanced) to go to the malls, buy a cuppa, and provide dialogue for passersby. If you like the club scene, the Oregon district can be fun. Denny's, by U.D., is a blast at 2 to 4 am weeknights. VERY strange crowd comes in. The NEON movies show some cool OLD stuff. The Loft has good plays for such a small theatre. And of course, there is ALWAYS driving north to the airport and parking at the end of the north landing strip. What a rush when the jets come in! What else...? Oh, yeh! Drive to Cincy!
    LOL

Thank you for being positive! I'm just moving into Miamisburg and am looking for things to do other than drive back to Cincy!

I enjoy going to Dayton Bombers (I've been to about 20 - 30 of'em in the past few years) games @ the Nutter Center and to Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers.

I like going to the Dragon's games or the District. But it all depends on what kind of stuff you like to do.

The problem with Dayton is is more like a big town than a bona fide city (urban blight and fiscal crisis aside). So, if you think smaller then you'll probably find stuff to do. One thing that has always bugged me though is having to drive everywhere. Other than Oakwood, are there any communites with viable self-sustaining neighborhoods? Yeah yeah, the Oregon District - but that's a bit played out. As for South Park - get rid of the landlords and maybe it's got a chance. "A" for effort though (okay, really B-). We almost bought a house there but the neighborhood isn't safe and a lot of houses are in terrible condition.

Too bad the Belmont/Walnut Hills area isn't booming. I think of all the neighborhoods in the Downtown area, it's got the best layout for being a walk-able district with a lot of amenitites and a lot of cute houses too.

I think this town would be hoppin' if administrators moved forward with a light rail connecting the major cities. Sadly it probably won't happen. also, if our public school system was in decent shape this place would be much more alive.

I'm so sick of Dragons games. Snore. Try to get a group of friends and just hang out - that's really the best option in this place. Or donate to some area non-profits and attend the events.
